Abundant nature and Japanese ancient customs.
Shimokamagarijima island has been promoting the “garden island project” to make the entire island into a garden inspired place, building on the existing beauty of its abundant nature and Japanese ancient customs.
As a part of this project, cultural facilities such as “Shoto-en” and “Ranshima Kaku Art Museum” have been built. Two thousand pine trees have also been planted on the island, making it “the Pine Tree Island” allowing visitors to enjoy the evergreen trees all year round.
